On the threshold of the New Year, Loreta Juodkaitė, one of the most interesting creators of modern dance, presented to the audience the premiere Prayer in the Sand (Lith. Malda smėlyje).

According to Loreta Juodkaitė, this ritualized and sacral performance nurtured for almost two years is like a prayer for our lives. The creator says that each taken step, each movement, silence or even an ordinary conversation is a prayer for her. Therefore, she demands not only precision of movement from her dancers on the stage but also inner power and strong belief in what they are doing as, in the opinion of the choreographer, "a dance without feeling is empty."

The performance Prayer in the Sand with the music of the Turkish band Kardes Türküler is the creation pulsating with passion, energy and sun heat, the leitmotif of which is the sun in the sky and the sun inside us. The sun serves as the symbol of everything that gives meaning to our lives, inspires us to move ahead, and to be strong enough to face challenges.

Part of the creative team visited Turkey in February and observed the people, nature and culture of this country seeking for the source of inspiration and the answer to the question as to what unites the people of different religions, cultures and traditions. As the result, the performance reveals common values that are relevant to a modern man in any part of the world.
