Oskaras Koršunovas was born in Vilnius, on March 6, 1969. In 1993, he completed his studies in Theatre Directing at Lithuanian Music Academy (the course of Jonas Vaitkus) and has been lecturing intermittently in the academy (renamed to Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2004) since 1997; is an associate professor. He conducted various creative seminars abroad. In 1990-1998, Koršunovas was employed as a director at the Lithuanian State Academic Drama Theatre. In 1999, he founded a public enterprise Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre (together with Martynas Budraitis and Gintaras Sodeika; renamed to OKT/Vilnius City Theatre in 2004). Oskaras Koršunovas has directed numerous performances both in Lithuanian and foreign theatres. In 2002, he was granted the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Award, and in 2003, the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (Officer's Cross). In 2006, the director received the European Theatre Prize New Theatrical Realities. Also, in 2006, Oskaras Koršunovas was granted the Golden Cross of the President of Poland. In 2009, the artist was made Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. The Meyerhold Award was granted to Koršunovas in 2010.
