A rare possibility to see a Latvian play on Lithuanian stage. Although the comparison of Margaret from Faust by Goethe with the fate of a small nation casts some doubts, just as Latvian ethnographic scenery depicting the cell of Margaret does, all those doubts are stilled by perfect acting of Asta Preidytė, who was awarded the Golden Stage Cross for the role.

… having put all trust in sincerity of effort of the Lawyer, Margaret will let him into her teenage memories. Ant then, the actress will pity neither herself, nor the audience – she will experience everything that had happened to her with full force. And then you’ll realize that during those ill-fated 25 years the wound has not healed. It has only been carefully treated. Love has been protected. Even plenty of ethnographic needlework has helped securing the affection. There’s a feeling that Margaret still believes that someday her beloved will open the door of this room-cell. (…) The actress proves that Margaret has managed to experience deep emotions and has cherished them. She has experienced and treasured her life, not blaming anyone. She has lived. And she has won – she has survived.
