The exhibition The Artistic Fort of Eimuntas Nekrošius will open on June 7 at the Naples International Festival (Italy).
The first performance of this festival on June 8 and 9 - Zinc, directed by Eimuntas Nekrošius in the State Youth Theater of Vilnius at 2017. This performance will be played in Naples Teatro Politeama.
Director Eimuntas Nekrošius' work has been at the center of the international theater community's attention for more than three decades. Nekrošius was one of the few theater artists in Central and Eastern Europe who had a significant impact on contemporary theater development and reflected deep societal transformations of these countries. His unique, unparallelled artistic thinking earned Nekrošius, one of the most prominent creators of contemporary Lithuanian culture, international recognition. The heritage of the director ought to be perceived not only as a the past of the theater, but also as its present, and perhaps even the future, bearing in mind the artist's undefinable way of thinking and openness to new ideas.
The theater Meno Fortas and the State Youth Theater of Vilnius, where Nekrošius began his creative path in the 1980s, are presenting a project The Last Ones, the events of which will take place in Vilnius, November 21-30, 2019.
The program of The Last Ones will consist of the last performances directed by Eimuntas Nekrošius, among them The Book of Job, Inferno-Paradiso, Boris Godunov, A Hunger Master, Zinc, Sons of a Bitch, at the Lithuanian National Drama Theater, Klaipėda Drama Theater, and the State Youth Theater.
But the beginning of this project - in June, in Naples. The exhibition The Artistic Fort of Eimuntas Nekrošius will open on June 7 at the Naples International Festival (Italy). In October the exhibition will travel to theater festivals in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Lublin (Poland). Then it will be moved to the National Art Gallery of Vilnius, where it will open on November 21 and will be available for visitors until the end of the year.
The International Conference Eimuntas Nekrošius NOW will take place on November 29-30.
