ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The international performing arts festival “ConTempo” was first organized in 2019. In four years, the festival has gained the trust of both foreign and Lithuanian creators and the public and steadily established itself in the list of the main events of Kaunas city and Kaunas district. This is a unique and largest performing arts festival in central Lithuania, proposing the largest stage - the city and its surroundings! “ConTempo” continues its ongoing mission: to challenge performing arts, the city and the audience. The festival presents a professional, bold, conceptual program that responds to national and local issues, contributes to the development of city and district spaces, the involvement of local communities, supports young creators and grows the audience of professional performing arts.

On Lithuanian theatre
  • Festival „Sirenos 2024“ Lithuanian showcase: jury statement

The showcase highlighted the importance of theatre as a medium for exploring contemporary and historical themes, reflecting the complexities of human experience and specifically the Lithuanian experience.

  • Grieving the Present

The last season of the theatre inviting people to come together for shared remembrance, longing, mourning and ritual, has reminded us that nostalgia has a bright side as well.

  • Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase

Vilnius Puppet Theatre “Lėlė” starts its new 67th season with intensive work. One of them is the “Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase”, which will take place 13-15 of September.

  • Horse and Lobster Whisperers

Never take season reviews seriously. They are just the subjective thoughts of one person, who may have gone somewhere completely by accident, and may have accidentally not gone somewhere.

  • A Season Without Drama

If there were some remarkable and important performances this season, they did not turn into events. <...> This theatre season was without empathy, but it was accompanied by empathy for the theatre itself. Will the next season be the same?

  • Šiauliai State Drama Theatre and “Operomanija” invite creators to experiment

Šiauliai Theatre and “Operomanija” invite creators to submit proposals for the tender of the idea of a contemporary interdisciplinary stage art work until 10 February 2024.

  • 40 049 Children (and one Girl)

Like other productions by Laura Kutkaitė, "The Breast of Tiresias" also relies heavily on the language of symbolism, sound and movement.

  • Greta Grinevičiūtė: Unfeigned Courage and Sensitive Personal Stories

I have chosen three words to summarise the creative image of Greta Grinevičiūtė: freedom, courage and authenticity.
